Crib or co-sleeping?
I thought I was done the whole "Where Did baby sleep your debate. I bought a crib for my oldest, which I believe was nice for the nursery, although it was never used yet. From day one, she slept in bed with us. With my other two children that we do not even bother to make it out. And then, just six months ago we decided that our family was so great as it was going to get and we have donated or sold anysingle piece of baby equipment and clothes we had.
Big Mistake!
Well, here I am four months pregnant with our fourth child, and I'm already on to get "the look" again, when people make this one, from cribs or tell us where they saw a good buy, we should. I politely say "well, thank you, but we have never used a crib and we're not going to make, with this child."
My pediatrician recommended method of the crib, was always supportive of my decision to co-sleep. They really believed that, in general, mothers know what is best for their children and was ready to co-sleep without a single lecture or "helpful suggestion."
I was pleased to read Dr. Sears' research and information in this section:
"If the incidence of SIDS is dramatically higher in comparison to a crib in the parents' bed, and because cases of accidental suffocation and compression are then only 1.5% of all SIDS casesSleeping with a baby in your bed would be far safer than putting baby in a crib.
The answer is not to say, parents with their babies do not sleep, but to educate them on how to sleep safely with their children. "(From AskDrSears.Com) And I absolutely agree. Where do I put my sleeping child, whether a crib or in my bed should not matter to protect other people as long as I take the appropriate steps to myChild.
How to protect your baby if you co-sleep
This time, since we have three siblings opportunities "in the middle of the night" visitors from the baby 's, we will invest in emerging one of these babies cooperation only to the definition of the baby's room and keep away stray blankets and pillows. But I'm glad it finally scientific support for my position - the last thing I need with four small children, is some controversy as to how we sleep.I consider myself lucky if I get to sleep at all!
